Friday 1 April 2022 dawned bright and breezy at the Durbanville Golf Course. More breezy than a round of amateur golf usually favours but only a fool says no to golf on April Fool’s Day! An invitation from the MENstruation Foundation – Producer of the First Sanitary Product Vending Machine in Africa meant that not only did we get to discover more about their life changing work BUT we also got to support their fundraising efforts with a wine-derful prize!
So it was that our trio of Brand Ambassadors set out to share our Chenin on the 12th Hole, and in the case of Guy McDonald, play the day with representatives of the Foundation along with Stormers and Springbok Hooker, Scarra Ntubeni.
Brand Ambassadors Jarred Vosges and Roberto Vermeulen manned the “wet hole” with aplomb and their ability to communicate about wine in an easy, approachable manner certainly had the passing 4-balls captivated. Along with our Susan Stanleys Wines, they also offered the golfers our own brands of Craft Gin, Rum and Vodka. Comments about our superb quality versus affordable price were many and obviously great shots off the Par 3 tee box were all attributed to our quality products. Rum was the first to finish and one golfer event complemented “I don’t know why I added a mixer to the 1st tasting. This Rum is better neat – so smooth.”
At R20 for a ticket to enter our Raffle we were able to offer R3960.00 to the MENstruation Foundation while the winner took home a Bottle of each of our Wines, Craft Spirits and a 6 Bottle Wine Cooler carrier bag.
As for the Golf… Guy mentioned things like “what a wine-derful day out”, “that wind was hectic”, "I really found my rhythm on the 9th hole but then lost it after stopping at halfway house”, and the best: “I only lost 2 golf balls!”. But the score? Remains unknown.
