Kloovenberg Grenache Noir 2022 per Case

The Vintage of this wine is 2022, crafted from 100% Grenache noir grapes sourced from a single vineyard featuring high-density bush vines. These vines have an age range of approximately 12 years. They thrive in schist soil types, contributing to the unique character of the wine. The yield is carefully managed at 4 tons per hectare.

The grapes undergo a meticulous handpicking process in the early morning and are then cooled overnight at 5°C in a temperature-controlled room. Upon processing, forty percent of the grapes undergo crushing and destemming, while the remaining sixty percent ferment as whole clusters. The natural fermentation process unfolds in open fermenters, where gentle punch-downs twice daily aid in extraction.

Following fermentation, the wine undergoes an additional maceration period on the skins for seven days before being pressed into neutral oak barrels. Malolactic fermentation occurs within the barrels, adding complexity to the wine's profile. After racking from the lees and a minimal sulphur dose, the wine ages for ten months in barrels before its final bottling.
