Name Inspiration:

The Affair Pinot Noir embodies a refined dance between the soft, feminine essence and the masculine strength inherent in this noble grape variety. A love affair unfolds, where delicate floral notes, hints of spice, and silkiness intertwine with the linear strength of tannins, whispers of oak, and brooding dark forest floor aromas.

Climate:

Rooted in the fertile soil of Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge, just 10km from the Atlantic Ocean, our Pinot Noir vineyard benefits from a temperate maritime climate. Southerly maritime winds sweep through the appellation during summer, bringing regular sea mists and overcast conditions that ensure balanced temperatures year-round. With an average temperature of 19°C and approximately 750mm of rainfall per year, our vineyard thrives under the gentle caress of nature.

Technical Details:

Hand-harvested from seven distinct vineyards in the tranquil embrace of cool early morning temperatures, our Pinot Noir grapes undergo a meticulous journey of transformation. Following overnight cold storage, they are delicately sorted and destemmed into red ferment tanks, with 20% of the fruit left as whole bunches. Cold maceration unfolds for an average of three days, after which spontaneous fermentation commences under controlled temperatures until dryness is achieved. The wine is gently pressed and transferred to a selection of French Oak barrels for 11 months of aging and maturation. Final blending occurs one month before bottling, ensuring a harmonious union of flavors.

Styling:

A refined expression of Pinot Noir, The Affair captivates with its allure and subtle nuances, enchanting all who encounter it. Delicate floral aromas intertwine with red cherry and underlying spice, while hints of forest floor evoke its Burgundian heritage. On the palate, it reveals a silky texture and lovely roundness, complemented by soft, integrated tannins that linger on the finish.
