A range of ‘escaped braai wines”, wines which allow us to push the boundaries a fair bit, try new things in the cellar and work with grapes that might not make the headlines, but most importantly interesting ‘everyday luxury” drinking wines to share with friends, family & perhaps a random passer-by. Always hand crafted in small quantities.
Planted in 1968, this old dry land bush vine Swartland Steen (Chenin blanc if you must) is hand harvested & crafted Old skool involving a portion cold fermented & matured in stainless steel, the other fermented & matured in old French oak. Matured on fine lees (sur lie), blended & bottled unfiltered to jam-pack in all the flavours of this concentrated & flavoursome wine from the old vines.
A mélange of yellow ‘n orange citrus, peach ‘n apricot, swirls of tropical fruits & citrus blossoms while the palate is lithe ‘n flavoursome with refreshing acidity. Best served lightly chilled in good cheer, enjoy partnered with fresh seafoods of your choice, rustic poultry dishes, fine fromage or charcuterie, a Tuesday night pizza ‘n Netflix or as an aperitif watching the sunset.
