Bosman Family Vineyards
“This is an 8 generation Bosman family story of vine to wine devoted to responsible, artisanal” winemaking.
The Bosman Family have been vine growers in Wellington for 8 generations, their proud heritage forming the bedrock from which innovation and sustainability are a natural progression.
Bosman Family Vineyards is not only a wine producer. The cellar is part of Bosman Adama, an organisation that includes a plant improvement facility, which plays a major role in propagating new, healthy vines; and a vine nursery supplying “stokkies” (grafted cuttings) to grape farmers across the country. They can therefore track their wines right back to the mother plant in an unbroken chain of quality and care.
But this also means that there is sufficient work year round for everyone on the farm from the nursery, to the vineyards, to the cellar. To keep this momentum, they invest in people and their potential, focussing on building a cohesive, sustainable community so that all may thrive and collectively create a valuable legacy.
Wine Maker: Natasha Williams
Natasha joined the winemaking team in November 2014. She grew up in Saron, a small village in the Swartland and also studied Viticulture and Oenology at Stellenbosch University. While part of the Bosman team, in 2016 she completed a harvest under Merry Edwards, an acclaimed wine maker in the Russian River Valley, honing her skills with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Harvests at Jordan new Stellenbosch and also trips to California and France have enhanced her 5 year experience at Bosman Family Vineyards in Wellington where she focusses on their boutique range of wines, including some interesting new varietals that this innovative farm is known for.
She was awarded an International Wine Challenge scholarship in 2017 to further her studies through the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) which is a global organization that arranges courses and exams in the fields of wine and spirits.
Natasha took over the winemaking responsibilities for the Lelienfontein cellar in 2019 with Corlea becoming the cellar master managing operations.
These 2 women carefully balance intellect and intuition to create wines that are memorable through subtle, complex though delicate. Their diligence and passion for excellence ensures an unsurpassed standard of excellence.
