This award-winning Bordeaux style blend is comprised of 66% Petit Verdot, 28% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Grapes from various vineyards in the Western Cape were carefully chosen to meet the winemaker's requirements in creating a profile for each specific vintage.
Only the best grapes were hand-picked from low-yielding, terroir-specific sites to ensure fine and pure fruit. In stark contrast to their awarded 2017 vintage, this Bordeaux-style blend is Petit Verdot driven. Punch-down and aerated pump-over methods are used, resulting in both robust tannins for excellent structure and concentration, which also ensures the extraction of deep colour. The wines are blended and undergo fermentation and maturation in new French Oak barrels for 15 months.
What can you expect?
A full-bodied and buxom blend that is deep ruby in colour. On the nose, a vibrant profusion of blackcurrant, dark chocolate, spice and slight vanilla and floral notes. On the palate, a rich mouthfeel with fine tannins offers a long, resplendent finish.
This well-balanced, bodacious wine pairs well with lamb-shank roasts and hearty, soulful oxtail potjie accompanied by samp, porcini mushrooms and mature cheese shavings.
This wine can age for up to 10 years.
